Observer is a short series of atmospheric puzzle games developed by Eero Turkia.
The concept was to create a world with a sense of loneliness and emptiness, yet also hinting at a rich history. For the music I was going for an otherworldly sound that straddled the lines between darkness, melancholy, and hopefulness.
Doing the audio design for the trailers was a lot of fun too. To balance the floaty, otherworldly character that the music provides, I tried to give real weight to the sound effects. For example, I quite liked how the windmill in the What Lies Beneath trailer got a sense of weight when I layered my roommate’s creaky bed with the air displacement created by the doors in my parents’ house.
